Can artificial grass catch fire?
Absolutely not. Most synthetic grass is made from high-quality, non-toxic, non-flammable synthetic fibres. They won’t catch fire and burn. In the situation of an open fire or extreme heat, artificial grass blades will melt. By melting, it creates a barrier that prevents the flames from spreading. Melting damages, the outer appearance of the grass but fire can be totally avoided.
You should take precautions to ensure that anything hot should be kept away from your synthetic grass as possible. Keep these things away from your artificial turf:

- Barbecues
- Fireworks
- Fire pits
- Motorised machinery like hedge trimmers

As long as your turf is installed with sand-based infill you are safe. The sand infill will prevent the fire from spreading and make the turf fireproof.
How can synthetic grass be fixed after fire damage?
If your artificial grass was damaged by a cigarette or barbecue, it can be repaired. The burnt section can be cut and replaced with new synthetic grass. However, you should be aware that it may not look exactly the same.
